Use prepaid vouchers
A prepaid voucher lets customers buy and redeem prepaid at a time that suits them. For example, customers can use prepaid vouchers to access the internet at Smile wifi hotspots.
Vouchers are generated by Smile's voucher management system and contain a:
- voucher number—uniquely identifies the voucher across the company
- secret code—authenticates the voucher number
- expiry date—defines the length of time the voucher is valid
Before you use prepaid vouchers, you must configure the voucher management system and prepaid
in Smile. You may need to complete the following tasks, among others:
- create and print vouchers
- create online sign-up forms
- configure prepaid in Smile
- configure connections between Smile, the network and walled gardens
A walled garden is an environment that limits the content and services that a prepaid user can access. For example, a walled garden may permit access to vendor-only content, such as a sign-up page.
The following methods use prepaid vouchers:
- validateVoucher() checks that the voucher number and secret code are valid, and that the voucher has not expired.
- redeemVoucher() consumes the voucher and adds prepaid to a subscription.
