Change a payment plan

You may need to change the payments in a payment plan to respond to a change in a customer's circumstances.

The following table outlines the payment plan changes you can make and the result of each change.

Change Result
Change the scheduled date of a payment Moves the payment to the new scheduled date
Skip a payment Moves the payment to after the final scheduled payment
Remove a payment from a payment plan Removes the value of the payment from the plan total
Cancel a payment plan Cancels the plan and resumes credit control actions against the invoice

This task explains how to change a payment plan.

  1. Search for the account whose payment plan you want to change, then double-click the account entry in the search results.
    The Account summary page is displayed.
  2. On the Account Menu Tree, click Payment Plans.
    The Payment Plans page is displayed.
  3. Click View next to the payment plan you want to change.
    The Payment plan summary window is displayed.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click View next to a payment to change its scheduled date, then click Change next to the Scheduled for field and enter the new payment date.
    • Click Skip next to a payment to skip the payment.
    • Click Remove next to a payment to remove the payment from the plan.
    • Click Cancel payment plan to cancel all remaining payments in the plan.
    Smile performs the action and updates the Payment Plans page.
