Manage contracts

A contract specifies the length of time that a customer must remain on a plan, for example, 12 or 24 months.

A contract may include setup charges, termination charges and payment method restrictions. For example, your company may offer some contracts only to customers who pay with a credit card. Your Smile administrators can configure the termination charge as a flat fee or as a pro-rated proportion of the remaining contract value.

Unless otherwise defined, the total contract value is the sum of all the recurring charges for the duration of the contract, plus any setup charges. It does not include usage charges.

Each contract belongs to a specific subscription. You choose which contract to apply when you order the subscription.

Managing a subscription's contracts lets you:
  • add a contract
  • view past, current and future contracts for the subscription
  • terminate a contract
