Create a quote

A quote is a formal statement of the cost to provide an account, subscription or other service to a customer. Smile treats quotes as open invoices. A quote does not affect the account balance until it is closed. When you close a quote, Smile turns the quote into an invoice and adds the invoice value to the account balance.

Quotes and other open invoices are displayed in the Open Invoices section of the Account tab. Smile attempts to delete empty quotes (quotes that do not contain an invoice item) after 24 hours.

This task explains how to create a quote.

  1. Search for the account for which you want to create the quote, then double-click the account entry in the search results.
    If a new customer does not yet have an account, create the quote against the Cash Sales account.
    The Account summary page is displayed.
  2. Create a manual invoice for the services in the package.
    You may need to add invoice items for setup charges, recurring charges and equipment.
  3. Click Save.
    The Close Invoice window is displayed.
  4. Click Leave Open.
    Smile saves the quote and returns to the Draft Transactions page for the new invoice.
