Add an automatic discount

After you add an automatic discount to an account or subscription, Smile applies the discount to each invoice raised against the account or subscription. If you apply a discount to an account, the discount also applies to each of the account's subscriptions.

Smile applies automatic discounts to both bulk and manual invoices, but an operator can override an automatic discount on a manual invoice.

Your Smile administrators define the automatic discounts that you can apply. For example, an administrator may define a 10% discount on recurring charges or a 5% discount on international calls.

This task explains how to add an automatic discount to an account or subscription.

  1. Search for the account to which you want to add a discount, then double-click the account entry in the search results.
    The Account summary page is displayed.
  2. (Optional) To apply a discount to a subscription, click Subscriptions on the Account Menu Tree, then double-click the subscription entry to which to apply a discount.
    The subscription summary page is displayed.
  3. Select the discount to apply from the Discount drop-down, and if you are applying a discount to a subscription, click Save.
    If you are applying a discount to an account, Smile automatically saves your changes.
