Add a recurring charge

A recurring charge is a regular charge that is not based on usage, for example, an insurance surcharge or an additional charge for an increased level of support.

The recurring charges that apply to a subscription are typically defined in its plan. However, if you need to add a recurring charge that is not defined in a plan, you can add the charge directly to the subscription.

A recurring standard charge is a charge defined elsewhere that can be added to other subscriptions, for example, a charge for a fixed IP address

This task explains how to add a recurring charge.

  1. Search for the subscription to which you want to add a recurring charge, then double-click the subscription entry in the search results.
The subscription's summary page is displayed.
  2. Click Add standard charge... in the Recurring charges section.
The Recurring Charge window is displayed.
  3. Complete the required fields. The following fields require additional explanation:
    • Raise charges every—Specifies how often Smile raises the recurring charge.
    • Last charge date—Specifies the date until which Smile applies the charge. If you leave this field blank, Smile applies the charge indefinitely.
    • Rate—Specifies the ex-GST value of the charge.
    • Display rate—Specifies the value to display on the invoice, which may include GST.
    • Raise charges—Specifies whether Smile raises the charge in arrears or in advance.
    • Pro-rata calculation—Specifies how Smile applies the charge to an incomplete period.
  4. Click Save, then click Continue.
Smile adds the recurring charge to the subscription.
