Change a plan

Changing a plan adds a new plan schedule item to the subscription's plan schedule. The item specifies the name of the new plan and when the plan change occurs. You can change the plan a subscription uses now, in the future or in the past.

If the plan start date is in the past, Smile uses the new plan tariffs to re-rate any usage in open periods that occurred after the plan start date.

Tip: You cannot change a subscription's plan if a subscription is under contract. However, you can cancel the existing contract, change the plan then add a new contract to the subscription.

This task explains how to change a plan.

  1. Search for the subscription for which you want to change the plan, then double-click the subscription entry in the search results.
    The subscription's summary page is displayed.
  2. Click Customise Plan...
    The Change Plan window is displayed.
  3. Select the new plan from the Plan drop-down.
  4. Enter the plan start date and time in the Start date and Start time fields.
  5. (Optional) Select one or more of the following options, as needed:
    • Cancel all future plans—Deletes any future plans in the plan schedule.
    • Cancel all future plans during the billing period—Deletes any future plans in the plan schedule that start in the current rating period.
    • Add rating zone override—Overrides the rating zone to which an SZU (Standard Zone Unit) is mapped, if the rating configuration uses rating zones.
    • Show tariff entry table—Adds or uploads, in CSV format, custom tariffs for this subscription.
    • Show prefix entry—Uploads custom prefixes and tariffs for this subscription.
    • Do not fall through to default prefixes and tariffs—Specifies that the subscription never uses the default service charging rates, and only uses the custom rates defined on the subscription.
  6. Click Save.
    The Plan change request page appears.
  7. Confirm that the plan, start date and start time are correct.
  8. (Optional) Select one or more of the following options, as needed:
    • Cancel future plans—Deletes any future plans in the plan schedule.
    • Cancel future plans for this period—Deletes any future plans in the plan schedule that start in the current rating period.
    • Change from next period—Postpones the new usage and recurring charges until the start of the next rating period.
  9. Click Confirm plan change.
    Smile adds the plan change to the plan schedule and changes the plan at the appropriate date and time.
